We had furnace issues and wasn't heating the home at all called several companies in the Bedford area all wanting 2-500 for a service call to diagnose the issues plus the cost to fix whatever was wrong and wouldn't come same day. Called Dayton's and was 89 dollars for the service call and had randall on his way. Randall was very friendly and did fast work fixing the issue with our system. I would 100% recommend Dayton's and 110% recommend Randall. Thank you all for the fast response and friendly service.

Winter tuneup 2025, Dayton's is a great company to work with for HVAC and plumbing. We've been customers a few years now and we're always impressed with the service they provide. Winter 2025, water heater broke again due to serious lime buildup. Hard water is bad so Dayton's replaced the water heater and added a water softener. The job was done quickly and professionally. I'm very happy with our water quality and I feel Dayton's gave a very fair price for this work. Five star service always and it's very much appreciated. Thank you Kaleb, Zac, Dave, and everyone at Dayton's. Very happy with our new HVAC. Dayton's installed it at Thanksgiving 2021 and they were super professional. Excellent work, very fast, and no mess or fuss. Dayton's was just here for our first Spring 2022 service visit. The technician was very professional and did a great job. We can't say enough good things about Dayton's Heating & Cooling, Inc. Fall 2023 and we are still very happy with Dayton's and their technician Kaleb. He is very efficient and always does a thorough job! Spring 2024 and very happy with Kaleb and the service he provided. The HVAC is in great condition and we are very happy. Fall 2024, Zach was our tech this fall and he was very detailed. Zach arrived on time, completed a couple maintenance items, and cleaned his work area very well. Very happy with Zach and Dayton's! Winter 2024, our water heater broke and Dayton's was here in a couple days to fix it. Kaleb was the technician, he diagnosed the problem and repaired the heating element quickly. Thanks for your help Kaleb! Highly recommended.

HVAC Installation & Service performance guide for Bedford, Indiana

Mixed-Humid zone
Summer avg 85°F
Winter avg 25°F

Climate averages are state-level reference values, not city-specific measurements.

Climate impact in Bedford, Indiana

Bedford, Indiana sits in a Mixed-Humid climate zone with average summer highs near 85°F and winter lows near25°F. Those swings load the evaporator coil, blower motor, refrigerant lines, and condensate drain. Keep a clean MERV filter to protect the compressor.

Seasonal swings stress refrigerant lines and condenser capacity. Verify charge and airflow to protect the evaporator coil.

Most common local breakdowns

  • Evaporator coil icing from low airflow and clogged filters.

  • Capacitor failures on the condenser during peak cooling loads.

Low airflow from dirty MERV filters or a weak blower motor causes ice. Ask for airflow and refrigerant superheat checks.

Equipment recommendation

Balanced systems with SEER2 15+ and solid filtration protect the blower motor, coils, and compressor year-round. Seal ductwork and schedule coil cleaning to protect the heat exchanger, capacitor, and compressor.

Heat pumps favor variable-speed compressors and tight refrigerant line sets to stabilize humidity control.

Local code and housing notes

Ask contractors about Indiana energy code compliance and permits. Older homes often benefit from ductless mini-splits to reduce line-set length and improve zone control.

  • Mechanical permit for system replacement and condenser swaps.

  • Post-install inspection covering refrigerant line pressure and condensate drain routing.

  • Load calculation proof to avoid short-cycling compressors.

  • Airflow verification (blower motor speed + static pressure).

Always confirm a contractor's license and insurance before hiring.
