Once again, fantastic service and communication from Jody and Chris regarding my furnace. They are the only company I will let service my thirty year old OG HVAC and Furnace.

James mechanical was an excellent choice for our HVAC update. Mike was very knowledgeable, professional to deal with and reasonably priced. Did an excellent job. Took pics of his work to show us and guaranteed his work for a year. I’ll definitely use them again.

I’ve been meaning to take the time to leave a review because this company definitely deserves it. I received two quotes prior to receiving a quote for honest heating. The first two companies swearing I needed to do an entire ductwork replacement ranging from $18,000 from one company. And $ 10,000 with another company. I knew better because my ductwork was just released back in January. So I waited patiently and came across Honest heating and cooling. And I’m glad I did because it saved me over thousands in repairs because they were simply “honest” and straight forward and wanted to help save me money. And for that I’ve been forever grateful. Thank-you.

HVAC Installation & Service performance guide for Lincoln County, North Carolina

Mixed-Humid zone
Summer avg 85°F
Winter avg 25°F

Climate averages are state-level reference values, not city-specific measurements.

Climate impact in Lincoln County, North Carolina

Lincoln County, North Carolina sits in a Mixed-Humid climate zone with average summer highs near 85°F and winter lows near25°F. Those swings load the evaporator coil, blower motor, refrigerant lines, and condensate drain. Keep a clean MERV filter to protect the compressor.

Seasonal swings stress refrigerant lines and condenser capacity. Verify charge and airflow to protect the evaporator coil.

Most common local breakdowns

  • Evaporator coil icing from low airflow and clogged filters.

  • Capacitor failures on the condenser during peak cooling loads.

Low airflow from dirty MERV filters or a weak blower motor causes ice. Ask for airflow and refrigerant superheat checks.

Equipment recommendation

Balanced systems with SEER2 15+ and solid filtration protect the blower motor, coils, and compressor year-round. Seal ductwork and schedule coil cleaning to protect the heat exchanger, capacitor, and compressor.

Heat pumps favor variable-speed compressors and tight refrigerant line sets to stabilize humidity control.

Local code and housing notes

Ask contractors about North Carolina energy code compliance and permits. Older homes often benefit from ductless mini-splits to reduce line-set length and improve zone control.

  • Mechanical permit for system replacement and condenser swaps.

  • Post-install inspection covering refrigerant line pressure and condensate drain routing.

  • Load calculation proof to avoid short-cycling compressors.

  • Airflow verification (blower motor speed + static pressure).

Always confirm a contractor's license and insurance before hiring.
